Scrub fires have erupted throughout Wairarapa during the past few days.
Three Masterton fire crews and the Carterton water tanker were scrambled to a blaze that broke out in vegetation at a Te Ore Ore Rd property in Masterton soon after 1pm yesterday, fire communications supervisor David Meikle said.
He said the fire burnt through an area of vegetation measuring about 50m by 20m and the tanker and a single fire crew were still at the scene and dampening down hotspots at 4pm.
A grass fire had also ignited at a Te Maire Rd property at Kahutara shortly before 1.30pm and a single fire crew from Featherston had doused the blaze and was at the scene for almost an hour, Mr Meikle said.
Fire had also torn through about a half hectare of vegetation near the Masterton Motoplex drag strip on Wednesday in a blaze that is being treated as suspicious.
