Serial stalker Glenn Green goes back to jail for a year

The country's most prolific stalker has been jailed for a year after offending similar to that which has seen him rack up more than 200 convictions during a lifetime of offending.

Glenn Green, 44, was found guilty of four breaches of his release conditions in just 12 days after the end of his most recent jail stint in June, which he served for criminal harassment.

He denied he started a relationship with someone without informing his probation officer and possessed gang regalia, contrary to those conditions, but Judge Jane Lovell-Smith rejected his explanations.

The bulk of the charges stemmed from letters and text messages he wrote to four different women, one of whom was a former beauty queen.

Green said he just "wanted to be friends" but Judge Lovell-Smith said the impact on his victims had been extreme and at Manukau District Court today jailed him for a year - the maximum the law allowed.

One of the victims, who said had been pursued "on and off" by Green for 20 years felt it was "almost impossible to hide" with the internet and the stalker's uncanny ability to remember names and addresses.

He had even found her address when she had been living in Los Angeles and recommended a local gun shop at which she could purchase a weapon to protect herself.

In June, Green's probation officer became concerned when a GPS anklet showed he was spending a lot of time at Westfield mall in Manukau.

A police search at his Mangere address found a letter addressed to "beautiful, blonde shop assistant", a mall worker he did not know.

"I hope you don't creep out at this letter as it's all good. I'm just writing it to introduce myself to such a beauty that I've had the pleasure of meeting recently," Green wrote.

He provided a photo, calling himself "Goldie", describing himself as "a white dude... of reasonable looks" and urged the woman to text him.

Green uses aliases including Holden, Carlionne, Colcord, Goldberg and Versace and the court heard he had recently changed his name to Dallas Deangeles.

Judge Lovell-Smith imposed post-release conditions for six months after Green's next release, many of which reflected those previously put in place by probation.

As well as being barred from using the internet or setting up social media profiles, Green will also be banned from entering Westfield Manukau.

The offender had one more letter in court today - this time for the judge - in which he said he "hated" his history and professed his innocence on the charges for which he was being sentenced.

Green suffers from erotomania - believing someone, usually a stranger or high-profile person, is in love with them.

His criminal history of more than 20 years features more than 200 convictions, including 34 breaches of protection orders, seven counts of criminal harassment and six of perverting the course of justice.

Judge Lovell-Smith described Green's offending and his history as "unique" and said in dealing with him protection of the community was paramount.
