KEY POINTS:
Two serial robbers are being hunted in Auckland after striking a bank and a PostShop in separate incidents on Monday.
One of the robbers, who struck the ANZ Bank on Great North Rd in Henderson at 3.35pm on Monday, appeared in the Herald's Crime Scene column last week, wanted for robbing banks in Wellington and Manurewa.
Both robbers used the tactic of handing notes demanding cash to staff, but police are not linking the pair.
The robber of the Henderson ANZ also robbed the ANZ in Great South Rd, Manurewa, on July 23 with a note reading: "Just give us your money". Two days later he robbed a National Bank branch in Wellington.
The second robber, whom police described as "brazen", robbed the PostShop on Putney Way in Manukau City at 4.50pm on Monday, forcing it to close early.
The same man robbed the Westpac branch in Great South Rd, Papatoetoe, on July 26, making no effort at disguise and wearing the same mustard-coloured sweatshirt and black beanie.
Detective Rob Kerr said the man calmly handed staff a note demanding money and said he was accompanied by armed associates.
The man stole money in both incidents but Mr Kerr would not say how much.
"It's definitely the same guy. He's wearing the same clothes and his face is exactly the same.
"It's pretty brazen. It's not the classic 'run in with the gun, hand it over' type of thing. There's been no panic or anything like that."
Mr Kerr was not sure whether the man's calm demeanour was a sign he was an experienced robber but police feared he would reoffend.
"We are looking for assistance to identify the offender before he commits another robbery. Somebody will know who he is."
