A teenage protester who jumped on Prime Minister John Key's car in Christchurch will avoid jail by writing an essay entitled What it Would Mean to Have a Criminal Conviction.
Luka de Spa, 17, was given the penalty when he was granted police diversion. He has also been ordered to pay $7400 for damage to the car.
