Sentencing has been adjourned for two women who have admitted blackmailing a Rotorua man by demanding $4000 in return for not making explicit photographs of him public.
Kaycee Wall, of Hamilton, and Lani Aperahama, 40, of Auckland were due to be sentenced in the High Court at Rotorua yesterday on one charge each of blackmail and intentional damage. The offences occurred in Rotorua in November 2009.
However, the complainant is disputing undisclosed matters in an affidavit from Aperahama.
Crown prosecutor Fletcher Pilditch said it was necessary to obtain evidence from the complainant to address those matters and whether the affidavit had any relevance for sentencing. Wall's lawyer Glenn Dixon and Aperahama's lawyer Max Simpkins made no objections.
Justice Peter Woodhouse adjourned the case to a date yet to be fixed.
"If it assists in an earlier date, sentencing can take place in Auckland," he said.
Both Wall and Aperahama were remanded on bail.
