The Wairarapa-Bush senior B rugby side managed three tries in their 55-15 loss to Wellington Samoans in Wellington on Saturday.
The Samoans had a decent advantage size and that took its toll on a game Wairarapa-Bush side in the second half after they trailed by just 15-27 at halftime.
Wairarapa-Bush coach Stacey Grant was, however, pleased with the competitiveness of his team in all departments.
Try scorers were Jason Kjestrup, Keiran Te Whare and Rupeni Tomani.
Meanwhile, the grand final of the Wairarapa-Bush open grade secondary schoolboys rugby competition was played at the Colombo Road grounds in Masterton on Saturday and Chanel College first XV kept their unbeaten record with a 16-6 victory over the Wairarapa College second XV.
Chanel skipper Craig Strachan opened the scoring early in the first half but Wairarapa College replied with two penalty goals to go to the break 6-5 ahead.
The second half was all one way traffic on the scoreboard with Natiti Sami scoring a try for Chanel and Keiran McGruddy kicking two penalty goals.
The win meant Chanel retained the Open Grade Trophy and also the Challenge Trophy played between the two colleges..
Rathkeale College third XV defeated Kuranui College second XV 34-25 in a high scoring and exciting colts grade final, also played at Colombo Road.
