KEY POINTS:
North Shore Police are trying to discover how a young woman became semi-clothed and distressed near Browns Bay beach early on Saturday morning.
The woman was without a pair of blue jeans, a pair of sports shoes and sports socks when she was found about 2am on Saturday, police said.
Police said they were still trying to establish what happened to the woman before she was found.
They were also still looking for the clothes -- the jeans, a pair of size 7 white Adidas running shoes with lime green material detailing and red orthotic insoles, and two black Adidas sports socks with the Adidas logo in white on the sole.
Inspector Ian Brooker of the police northern communications centre said they were also seeking three women who had been at the Speakers Corner and Echo bars on Clyde Road who may have seen what happened to the woman.
All three women -- a Caucasian, a Malaysian Indian and a part Maori woman -- were about 30 years of age.
Mr Brooker said the Malaysian woman had been declined entry to Speakers Corner due to a lack of identification but returned a short time later with a Malaysian passport to confirm her age.
