Wairarapa United coach Phil Keinzley is in a quandary.
He had hoped to name his side today for the crucial Central League fixture with competition leaders Miramar at Hullena Park on Saturday but an embarrassment of riches means he won't be doing that until after training tomorrow night _ and even then he could be struggling.
The problem for Keinzley is that if form is the No 1 criteria, then Ian Sandbrook and Nicky Roydhouse should be included in the squad despite not having played in the 3-1 win over Palmerston North Marist last weekend. That win took United into third place on the points table and into a position to challenge for the league title.
Sandbrook was unavailable for that game because of another commitment while Roydhouse played just the last 20 minutes after starting on the bench in what was his debut appearance for 2010 after returning from the United States.
Keinzley acknowledges Sandbrook has probably been the in-form player in his squad so far this season while Roydhouse showed his class late in the Palmerston North Marist match, scoring a goal and adding significantly to Wairarapa United's attacking play.
But Keinzley also knows if the players are in Saturday's starting line-up, other quality players will be sitting on the reserve bench.
Mercurial midfielder Andrew Abba could have to stand aside for Sandbrook and the gifted George Barbarouses for Roydhouse.
''It's a tough call but someone is going to be unlucky, there's no other way around it,'' Keinzley said.
''What it does, though, is give us real depth off the bench and that can be vital in games like this.''
Keinzley also has to decide whether he should stick with a lone striker, as he did with Seule Soromon last weekend, or move back to two strikers. If he picks two strikers, Soromon would probably be joined up front by Abba, Pita Rabo or Adam Cowan, who performed so well there in the 6-1 crushing of Petone two weeks ago.
Cowan, however, is also one of United's most reliable defenders and Keinzley sees a tight defence as paramount against a Miramar side who always look to take full advantage of the pace of their own forward line.
''[Miramar] have some very quick players and obviously you need defenders who can match them in that area,'' Keinzley said.
Speedy as Miramar may be, the United camp are confident their skill will help them hold their own and to that end they are hoping the spell of wet weather breaks in time for the Hullena Park surface to allow for an even bounce of the ball.
''We've got a lot of talented ball players who can create space for themselves simply by their own individual skills,'' Keinzley said.
''But that's negated to some degree when the grounds are soft and divots start appearing. A firm track is what we want.''
