KEY POINTS:
Technology trickle-down - the 4.6-litre V8 engine and eight-speed automatic trans-mission from the flagship of the Lexus range, the LS460, has been added to the smaller GS-series.
The new GS460 replaces the previous GS430. The 4.6-litre engine produces 255kW of power at 6400rpm and maximum torque of 460Nm at 4100rpm. The eight-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission allows the new GS460 to reach 100km/h in less than six seconds and deliver average fuel economy of 11.0 litres per 100km.
Styling enhancements include a pronounced front bumper with sharper headlights, and new exterior rear view mirrors with integrated turn signal lamps minor interior design changes.
The entire GS line is now equipped with Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM), a predictive stability control control.
The VDIM system in the GS300 Limited, GS450h and GS460 models also incorporates the Variable Gear Ratio Steering system.
All GS models come with Reverse Camera and Bluetooth phone capability.
The GS300 is priced at $99,900 and the GS300 Limited is priced at $119,900, which includes radar cruise control, satellite navigation and a Mark Levinson premium audio. Both high-performance models, the GS450h hybrid and the new GS460 V8, are priced at $139,900.
