Workers at international airports will soon be subject to random screening, as will their belongings and vehicles.
Director of Civil Aviation Steve Douglas said the tightening of security, to begin next Monday, was to bring the country into line with International Civil Aviation Organisation standards.
Workers would be subject to similar security controls as passengers travelling on international aircraft.
