Last weekend my friends and I paid a visit to Auckland's answer to America's 'In N Out' burger chain, Better Burger. We were there to experience the 'Epic Fries' - a stack of hand cut fries coated in mustard, special sauce and grilled onions. The special thing about the Epic Fries (other than the obvious awesome combination of ingredients) is that they are not explicitly noted on the menu, but can be asked for at the counter by those in the know.
But one cannot have fries without a burger, so we did that too.
Better Burger keeps it simple. In a nutshell, it's a fuss-free, fast-food burger joint (with fuss-free, fast-food pricing - burgers are between $5.00 and $6.50, fries are $4.00) but the point of difference is that the ingredients are organic and locally produced and sourced.
The menu is limited - hamburgers, cheeseburgers, vege burgers, fries, shakes and sodas - but that's what makes it great. It takes all the decision making out of your hands - perfect for someone like me, and especially perfect for the late night patron (the Britomart store has been known to stay open until 3am on Friday and Saturday nights).
