Secrecy over SPCA boss

The SPCA hierarchy says it is not true the Wairarapa SPCA manager has left his job - but there is an "employment issue".

The Times-Age fielded a number of calls with people stating Wairarapa SPCA manager Lloyd Warren had left.

This has been rebutted by the shelter's committee, who told the Times-Age Mr Warren was on "a long period of leave".

However, a receptionist at National SPCA said chief executive Ric Odom and the national inspector were not prepared to comment on Mr Warren's absence but stated there was a "Wairarapa employment issue".

Newly appointed chairman of the committee Rob Sewell said Mr Warren was still employed as manager and was currently on "extended" leave.

He couldn't say when Mr Warren would be returning to work.

Mr Sewell wasn't prepared to go into detail as to why Mr Warren was away, stating it was a "personal matter".

"Lloyd is on a long period of leave. He is still employed and being paid. I don't have a date of when he is returning as yet."
