Secondary school teachers will vote on possible strike action today and tomorrow after Post Primary Teachers Association (PPTA) members rejected the Government's latest pay offer.
Pupils will get half days off at schools around the country as more than 18,000 teachers attend special meetings to vote on strike action.
The meetings come after 97 per cent of PPTA members previously voted to stop pay talks with the Ministry of Education.
Several options will be put to members, including striking and a "work to rule" action.
PPTA president Kate Gainsford said the next move would be up to union members.
