The wrangle between the secondary school teachers union and the Ministry of Education is on the verge of settlement following months of talks and industrial action.
PPTA President Robin Duff is pleased as it has been a difficult time for the union, other workers and many communities.
"So that perhaps placed a greater pressure on people and certainly in our situation to make some sort of agreement to establish a more settled environment," he says.
Mr Duff says the details of the deal are being kept confidential for now as they have yet to be put to members for ratification but he is pleased there has been some resolution.
