Waisake Sabutu will be Mr Everywhere in the Wairarapa United side contesting the 2008 Capital premier division men's soccer competition.
At 1.98m Sabutu is tallish timber but his record suggests it will be his versatility which proves to be his biggest asset on the field of play.
The 28-year-old is captain of Nadi, winners of Fiji's national league over the past two seasons.
He generally plays at striker for them and has won the golden boot award for being the leading goal scorer in that competition.
At international level Sabutu's usual role for Fiji is in the central midfield and he has also shown himself to be a more-than-competent performer at central fullback.
Wairarapa United coach Phil Keinzley said Sabutu ,who arrived in Masterton on Tuesday, had been signed as a utility player capable of playing a key role on both attack and defence.
"It's always handy to have players who can basically slot in anywhere and do a good job for you and that's why we were very keen to have Waisake's services," he said.
"He's just what we needed in that respect."
Subutu will be one of four Fijians in the Wairarapa United squad this season, joining fellow internationals Pita Rabo and Petero Dauniseka along with Sakeo Valevou. .
And the South Pacific influence has been increased further with the arrival earlier this week of Vanuatu's Seule Soromon, the 23 year-old striker who won the golden boot award at the latest South Pacific Games, scoring 11 goals for Vanuatu there.
Soromon, who plays for Suva in Fiji's national league, was part of the Vanuatu squad which played the All Whites in World Cup qualifying games late last year.
