Second teen charged with Whangarei murder

A second teenager has been charged with the murder of Whangarei man Stanley Victor Wells.

Mr Wells, 41, died in Whangarei Hospital on Saturday afternoon of massive head injuries after being attacked near his home in suburban Otangarei on Friday night.

On Tuesday a 16-year-old Otangarei youth was charged with murder. He appeared in the Whangarei Youth Court yesterday and was remanded in custody until December 15.

Police yesterday arrested an 18-year-old Otangarei man who will face a joint charge of murder with the 16-year-old.
