Another failure on Auckland's rail network is being described as a catastrophe.
The system suffered a points failure at Newmarket this morning, delaying two train services for 25 minutes.
The problem comes just a day after thousands of people were left stranded when three sets of points failed at Britomart.
Auckland Regional Council chairman Mike Lee says ratepayers and taxpayers are paying for the service and its performance is totally unacceptable.
More than half of regional council rates go towards public transport.
