KEY POINTS:
A second baby in two months has been born in a Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance, and pilot Loren Haisley has been at the controls on both occasions.
Yesterday, Mr Haisley was transferring a late-stage pregnancy patient with complications from Taupo Hospital to Waikato when "things got really interesting" about six minutes into the flight.
He said the incident was "actually kind of funny. I immediately started logging the little details that the parents would probably want, like airspeed, altitude, approximate location." The baby is in the neo-natal unit and is in a stable condition.
Two months ago, a baby was born to a Whitianga couple while being flown in the helicopter.
