A second microlight has crashed on the West Coast in as many days, with the pilots walking away unhurt from both wreckages.
On Sunday, a machine stalled shortly after take-off, crashing into a paddock near the Taramakau River mouth, south of Greymouth.
Yesterday, about 5.30pm, another microlight crashed in the "middle of nowhere'', in hilly bush country between Reefton and Springs Junction.
The Reefton pilot activated his emergency beacon and the Solid Energy Rescue Helicopter was sent to the scene, 10km southeast of Reefton.
Rescue helicopter pilot Martin Shaw said the man had landed on Bald Hill, a "big, open span ridge'' surrounded by forest.
