KEY POINTS:
A second man has been charged with the baseball bat murder of a south Auckland teenager in September, 2006.
The 28-year-old man was granted name suppression when he appeared yesterday in Manukau District Court and was remanded in custody until February 26.
He was jointly charged with Jeffrey Key, 25, with the murder of Riki Mafi, 17, in the Otara town centre.
Yesterday Key's murder trial was abandoned in the High Court in Auckland after crown prosecutor Kevin Glubb told the court the police were looking at fresh information and the possibility that others may have been involved in the teenager's death.
The jury of six men and six women was discharged but Justice Patrick Keane suppressed details of the reasons.
Key was remanded in custody until February 27 for a callover to set a date for a new trial.
