KEY POINTS:
Just as the Phantom takes up residence, another major Lloyd Webber musical production is rolling into New Zealand - Starlight Express, the rock'n'rollerskating show will be playing the indoor arenas of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch in July 2009.
The original show, which opened in London in 1984 and ran until 2002, is, after Cats, the second longest-running musical in British theatre history.
The show has been updated, says promoter Stewart Macpherson, to include new songs, hip-hop and extreme sports elements with stunt skaters utilising a race track around the floor of the arenas and some of the audience seated in the thick of the action.
Tickets go on sale on Monday, with the Auckland season at Vector arena from July 25. Auditions are still to be held for the 28-strong company.
