KEY POINTS:
A passing cyclist raised the alarm at a fatal fire in the Auckland suburb of Epsom this afternoon.
The fire is being treated as suspicious and the Auckland CIB is investigating.
It was the second fatal fire in Auckland in two days.
A Fire Service northern communications spokesman said the alarm was raised at 1.05pm via cellphone.
The caller, a cyclist, said smoke was billowing out of the house at 17A Selwyn Road.
Fire fighters found the garage at the property ablaze and when it was extinguished a person was found dead.
The sex and age of the dead person was not released.
A Police northern communications spokesman said police were called at 2.50pm after the Fire Service alerted them to the suspicious death.
Two fire appliances attended the scene, along with a fire safety officer.
Yesterday morning, the body of Nicholas John Game was found in a burnt out garage in Onehunga.
Police have declined to comment on reports that the garage was being used as a P lab.
