A passing motorist spotted the woman's vehicle down a bank east of Halcombe, 13km north-west of Feilding, about 1.30pm, Feilding police Senior Sergeant Nigel Allan said.
It was unclear when or how the crash happened but the road was wet, he said.
The woman's name would not be released until next of kin had been informed.
A 52-year-old man died after his car crashed into a power pole near Marton early this morning.
