A second man has been charged with historic sex offences against children in an Auckland family.
The 73-year-old man from Oakura, 14km southwest of New Plymouth, faces three charges of indecent assault on a boy under 16, two charges of an indecent act on a boy under 16 and one charge of inducing an indecent act on a boy under 16.
Auckland Police said the charges relate to alleged offences against two victims in the mid 1970s.
The man will appear in New Plymouth District Court this afternoon. Police said he was likely to face further charges when he appears along with a 69-year-old man in Auckland District Court on June 22.
The 69-year-old, from the Auckland suburb of Hillsborough, was bailed when he appeared in Auckland District Court last week after facing 13 charges of sex offences against six members of the same family between 1968 to 1996.
Those charges include sodomising a boy under 16, raping a girl under 12, performing oral sex on two boys under 16, and indecently assaulting three girls under 16 and a woman over 16.
The man's name was suppressed, as were those of his alleged victims.
