A shooting at a Dunedin house has claimed a second life.
Police launched a homicide investigation yesterday after a 15-year-old boy was found dead with gunshot wounds at an Argyle St house in the suburb of Mornington about 2pm.
Today, police said a 47-year-old man who was taken to Dunedin Hospital with gunshot wounds had also died of his injuries this morning.
Police confirmed the boy and the man were related.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kallum Croudis said police would today talk to family, friends and students at a Dunedin secondary school to determine the background and events leading to the shooting incident.
Names of the deceased were likely to be released tomorrow.
Mr Croudis said the homicide investigation team wanted to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Argyle St area.
No further details were immediately available.
