Police say the investigation into the murders of Ravneet and Anna Sangha is "far from over" despite a 23-year-old Indian man being charged with both murders.
The bodies of Ravneet Sangha, 32 and her two-year-old daughter Anna were found in their Tauranga home over Queen's Birthday Weekend.
Deepak Nagpal was initially charged with Ms Sangha's murder during his first appearance in Manukau District Court on June 7.
He subsequently appeared in Tauranga District Court on June 10 and was remanded in custody.
The second murder charge was laid today as Nagpal appeared in Tauranga District Court.
The officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner, said the investigation had now reached a point where a second murder charge was able to be laid.
"However, the investigation is far from over and we still have a large team of people working on the case.
"We have received a great deal of help and support from the local community, and especially the local Indian community, and we would like to thank all of these people for their assistance."
Court suppression orders - on cause of death and all circumstances leading up to the deaths - issued on June 10 remain in force. The judge has also suppressed the contents of the police summary of facts relating to the murders.
