Second body recovered from Fiordland
Police are trying to identify a second body that was retrieved from Fiordland yesterday.
They removed the body after collecting 46-year-old Dunedin woman Lynne Marie Osborne, who fell about 200m to her death on Mitre Peak in the Milford Sounds on Monday.
Hunters reported finding the second body after returning from a wapiti shoot on Monday.
The person, believed to be a man, was in a sleeping bag beside McDonald Creek, on the south side of Bligh Sound.
The hunters found the body up to two weeks ago, but had no way of notifying authorities, Sergeant Ian Martin of Invercargill police told The Southland Times.
An autopsy would be carried out at Southland Hospital.
Police had not been told of anyone missing in the area.
