Police believed the suspect is linked to a bank robbery on Monday at Westpac on Molesworth Street, in the central city.
Police have footage of the man described as a thin, clean shaven Caucasian, 25 to 35 years old, about 1.8m tall.
He was wearing glasses, a blue and white striped woollen beanie, a black zip up jacket, a brown hooded sweatshirt, a black scarf, light blue jeans and white sneakers.
