KEY POINTS:
A second attempt has been made to burn down murder victim Michael Hutchings' South Otago home.
Fire crews were called to fight a blaze in the unoccupied Kaitangata house last night, three days after an earlier bid to burn down the property.
Detective Sergeant Kate Harrison said last night's fire was "well on its way" by the time firefighters arrived and they could only restrict the blaze from damaging neighbouring properties.
Police and firefighters believe accelerants were used to fuel both blazes.
Eighteen year old Mr Hutchings' body was found dumped in the Clutha River, near Balclutha, on January 12.
He had been stabbed twice, his body wrapped in a white mattress cover, and heavy steel bars used to weigh him down.
A 37-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman have been charged with murdering Mr Hutchings and remanded in custody until February 22.
