KEY POINTS:
Police have arrested a second man for his role in the attempted armed robbery of a New Lynn, Auckland, dairy in which the owner was shot last month.
Xu Mei Ying, 46, was shot in the arm with an air rifle during a raid on her shop on July 26.
The alleged gunman Bronson Lyle Nahu, 18, unemployed from Henderson, was further remanded in custody when he reappeared in Waitakere District Court last week.
He faces charges of wounding with intent to injure, unlawful possession of a firearm, assault with intent to rob and commission of a crime with a firearm.
Detective Steve Norris of Henderson CIB said an 18-year-old concrete worker was arrested last night and was to appear in Waitakere District Court today charged with assault with intent to rob.
Ms Ying suffered a wound to her upper left arm and had surgery in North Shore Hospital.
Police said nothing was taken during the incident and the offender left the scene in a vehicle driven by an associate.
"We have been searching for this second offender for the past three weeks and his arrest is most satisfying for both the victim and police," Mr Norris said.
