It will be the close of the 2012-13 cricket season in Wairarapa when The Rock Twenty20 competition is finalised over the weekend.
Semifinals will be played tomorrow with Greytown and Red Star doing battle at Greytown and Lansdowne up against Kuranui Old Boys at Queen Elizabeth Park Oval and the two winners will front up again for the final at the park oval on Sunday.
For Lansdowne and Red Star this will be the opportunity for them to claim major bragging rights for this season, Lansdowne having already won the Bidwill Cup and Red Star the Umpire's Cup.
It is probably fair to say they will start favourites in their respective games tomorrow but the very nature of the Twenty20 game means past form often counts for nothing when assessing the merits of the various teams. Certainly Greytown and Kuranui Old Boys have enough talented individuals in their line-ups to dramatically change the state of a match at any given time and victory to one, or both, of them would be no surprise.
