KEY POINTS:
Searchers today have so far found no trace of a diver missing off the coast of Timaru since yesterday.
Two helicopters and two coastguard vessels resumed searching for the man in his 60s at 8am this morning.
Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ) spokesman Ross Henderson said the diver, described as experienced, was reported missing about 2.30pm yesterday.
He had been diving on the wreck of the Holmglen, about 36km from Timaru.
Weather conditions today were ideal for the search, which was focusing on about 230 square miles around the wreck, Mr Henderson said.
The Holmglen, a Wellington-based vessel, sank in 1959.
Two rescue helicopters and six vessels searched the area until 9pm yesterday.
One vessel remained in the area while two helicopters equipped with night-vision equipment searched through until midnight.
