KEY POINTS:
Search and rescue teams are back in the Mt Arthur area of the Kahurangi National Park near Nelson, for the second time this week.
They are looking for 51-year-old Steve Thornborrow who was reported missing on Tuesday.
Police say he is an experienced tramper, but it is unusual for him to "go bush" without informing his family.
Mr Thornborrow is Caucasian, possibly wearing jeans, with hiking or steel capped boots.
Members of the public alerted police yesterday after finding his vehicle in a remote carpark.
Earlier this week a Swiss tourist overdue in the Mt Arthur area was found safe and well.
