Search off Coromandel for stricken vessel

Emergency services are en route to Port Jackson, at the top of the Coromandel where a 30ft boat is believed to be sinking.

A coastguard spokeswoman said a call came in at 3.15pm saying a boat was taking on water and there was one person on board. The phone line then went dead.

She said that the person was being winched off the boat by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter but no further details were available.
