A man has been flown to Southland Hospital in Invercargill with a chest injury after falling while on a hunting trip in Fiordland.
The man was with his adult son when the accident happened at Lake Poteriteri, in Fiordland National Park, about 5pm today.
The pair were able to activate an emergency locator beacon, which was picked up and relayed to the Rescue Co-ordination Centre and a rescue helicop ter dispatched, an RCCNZ spokesman said.
The incident highlighted the im portance to carrying an emergency locator beacon so the alarm could be raised quickly, the spokes man said.
