A search will resume this morning for a woman reportedly seen to have entered the sea and not returned at Pakiri Beach, north of Auckland.
Police said witnesses saw a "distraught" female aged in her early twenties walk into the sea around 10pm yesterday, but was not seen to re-emerge.
Northern Communications spokesperson Inspector Ian Booker said while the woman may have come out of the water unseen, police would resume the search for her at 8.30am today following an "extensive search" last night.
