Police are still searching for a mother of two, who has now been missing for four months.
Detective Mark Palma, of the Orewa CIB, said there have been a number of possible sightings of 39-year-old Alanah Brough, of Whangaparaoa, north of Auckland, but none have been confirmed.
"There have been sightings in Ruakaka, Wellsford and Whangarei. "Several sightings in Whangarei are still under investigation, and we will be going through video footage.
"Any scenario of what has happened to her is a possible scenario."
Mr Palma said it was clear that Ms Brough left of her own accord, but she had not touched her bank accounts or contacted any of her friends or family since she went missing on January 30.
"She doesn't have the funds to draw out large sums of money, and clearly we would be interested to know how she has been managing without finances," he said.
She was last seen at about 8.30pm on January 30. A neighbour saw Ms Brough leaving on foot her Whangaparaoa address she shared with her two sons and mother.
Ms Brough had taken her dog for a walk earlier that day, and it appears she then abandoned the dog.
When the dog was later found by a ranger at nearby Stanmore Bay its collar was missing. The collar was later found after a search of the house.
"It's apparent the collar's been taken off by Ms Brough before walking the dog," Mr Palma said.
Ms Brough had no known mental health or drug issues.
She abandoned her Toyota Camry car at South Head, Helensville after driving it off an embankment on January 29, the day before she went missing. In January, Ms Brough took her two sons to a camping ground near Matauri Bay, during which time her demeanour was described as unusual.
Her mother Judith Brough doubts her daughter had simply wandered off and has appealed to her to make contact.
Alanah Brough is 170cm tall, of thin build with blonde shoulder-length hair and braces on her top teeth.
She has a distinctive bird tattoo on her lower leg and another on her right shoulder. She may use the name "Tracey".
She was last seen wearing tan coloured trousers, a black mid-length jacket, and possibly black boots.
Anyone with information should call police on 09 427 4532.
