Five teams of search and rescue staff headed into bush near Otaki on the Kapiti Coast today to continue looking for a missing Porirua man.
The man, 61, failed to return from a day tramp in the hills south of the Otaki Gorge yesterday.
The four-person search teams and a sniffer dog would conduct a ground search today, Levin police told NZPA today.
The missing man was healthy and experienced but not familiar with the area.
He was not carrying a mobile phone and his car had been found where the person who raised the alarm said it would be.
No clues had been found during an initial search for the man by torchlight late yesterday.
