KEY POINTS:
The search for a missing man reported to have fallen from a bridge over the Waikato River will continue this afternoon.
A team of police divers from Wellington searched yesterday but failed to find a trace of the man and were sent home.
Police spokesman Andrew McAlley said the police boat would continue the search this afternoon.
"We still don't know who we are looking for," Mr McAlley said.
He said the man is described as dark skinned, possible Asian and had a thin beard. He is aged in his late teens or early twenties.
The man was seen falling from the bridge between 1.10am and 1.25am on Sunday by a passer-by.
Mr McAlley said police had not ruled out the possibility that the man may have survived the fall.
He said anyone who knew the man's identity should contact police.
