Police have called off the search for Auckland tramper Irina Yun, who is presumed to have drowned in Mt Aspiring National Park.
She went missing on New Year's Eve while trying to tramp the Cascade Saddle track from Mt Aspiring Hut in the West Matukituki Valley, to the Dart Hut on the Dart River.
Police and volunteers with dogs had spent much of yesterday combing the area, but had failed to find any clues.
If any new information, clues or sightings came to light, the search would be resumed, Wanaka police search and rescue co-ordinator Sergeant Aaron Nicholson said.
