Police are searching for a patched gang member after he assaulted a man at at a Masterton address, causing facial injuries.
The assault occurred on December 15 and a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Peter Tapine for injuring with intent to injure and threatening to kill.
Police in the Wairarapa and the Hutt Valley have searched addresses in Masterton and the Lower Hutt looking for Tapine, who is a Nomad gang member.
He has been described as "violent and unpredictable" and has been known to possess firearms in the past, so should not be approached.
Wairarapa Senior Sergeant Gordon Crawley said Tapine knew he was being sought and was actively avoiding arrest.
