Whakatane police and the Land Search and Rescue team have today moved into a second day of looking for an overdue hunter missing since Sunday.
Teams began searching yesterday after the hunter, a 42-year-old from Auckland, failed to walk out of the bush on Sunday night.
The hunter was due out of the bush about 8pm but failed to turn up.
Whakatane police Senior Sergeant Adrian Tukaki told The Daily Post the man had gone hunting deer in the Waimana area in the Urewera National Park on Sunday.
His hunting companions raised the alarm yesterday with local residents who contacted police.
