KEY POINTS:
Search parties yesterday failed to find a man believed to have been swept off the rocks while fishing in Northland.
Relatives reported the 57-year-old fisherman missing when he failed to return from the rocks at Matapouri Bay on Thursday night.
Police and coastguard staff searched extensively for the man yesterday but were unable to find any sign of him or his fishing gear.
Police are expected to continue searching today.
