Police investigating the killing of Manawatu farmer Scott Guy have moved the focus of their investigation to Invercargill, where he attended a farming conference in the month before he was shot.
Police this morning said they were keen to hear from anyone who had information on Mr Guy's visit to the city between June 20 and 24, when he and his brother-in-law attended the South Island Dairy Event Conference.
"The relevance of this phase is to identify if there were any incidents that we are otherwise unaware of that may or may not have occurred in Invercargill during this time, as the conference was only two weeks prior to Scott's death," said Detective Inspector Sue Schwalger.
Police were also interested in any after-conference activities that Mr Guy may have attended or participated in, or if he was seen in the CBD during his time in Invercargill.
It is more than two months since Mr Guy, 31, was found dead, gunned down in the driveway of his Feilding property as he was on his way to milking early on July 8 and so far the killer has not been traced.
The investigation team would be contacting conference participants directly but would like to hear from anyone with any information surrounding Mr Guy's movements in Invercargill.
They released details of his visit, in an attempt to elicit any information from the public.
On June 20 Mr Guy and his brother-in-law travelled on an Air New Zealand flight from Palmerston North to Invercargill, via Christchurch, arriving at 7.25pm.
They attended the conference at Stadium Southland and stayed at the Moana Court Motel on Tay Street.
They left Invercargill on June 24, on the 6.45am flight back home via Christchurch, arriving in Palmerston North at 9.30am.
Up until now police investigations have been hampered by the lack of witnesses, the early-morning time frame and remote location.
The only leads they have publicly revealed were the theft of three chocolate brown labrador puppies from the property, and two unidentified cars seen in the area on the morning of the shooting.
