A New Zealander arrested in Queensland on a fraud charge dating back to 1988 was dobbed in by a policewoman jealous of her relationship with the officer's ex-boyfriend, a court was told.
Restaurant manager Joanne Christine Beazley, 44, of Alexandra Headland, was arrested at work by the woman senior constable, the Sunshine Coast Daily newspaper reported.
Beazley's lawyer Adrian Hawkes alleged in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday that the policewoman took the action after discovering that Beazley was still wanted for social security fraud.
Beazley - then known by her former name Joanne Marsh - was found guilty of stealing almost $8000 but never turned up for sentencing in Southport Magistrates Court on August 11, 1988.
Outside the court, Mr Hawkes said his client was ready to face up to her past and that he had instructions to make a formal complaint about the senior constable's actions to the Queensland Crime and Misconduct Commission.
"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and that's all this is," Mr Hawkes said.
She was remanded on bail to reappear in court on January 18.
