A New Zealand scientist has been awarded an international award for his research of the Wanganui Basin.
Professor Tim Naish was recently appointed director of Victoria University's Antarctic Research Centre and is completing his PhD at James Cook University in Australia.
He won the James Lee Wilson Award for his "geological re-evaluation of the Wanganui Basin", which was judged as an example of "elegant science".
