The annual Opaki School Plant Day raised about $12,000 for the school coffers on Sunday.
Plant day co-ordinator Pam Blackburn, who co-ordinated the event alongside Erica Kinder, said the sale of plants, bouquets of flowers and a cafe that pupils operated under adult supervision had together raised about $12,000, which was a bigger total than on sale day last year.
On Saturday, parents and supporters had brought plants and goods to the school for the sale, which was a successful end to a growing season beset in the past several weeks by "wind, storms and frosts".
Mrs Blackburn said there were still perennials, natives and "lots of vegetables" left over from the sale day that were available to buy at the school.
"We spent a whole year setting up the plant day and it was very rewarding. The flower stall sold out and was very successful and the cafe was awesome. It was a fabulous day," she said.
