About 50 Japanese schoolgirls isolated in a Christchurch hotel after showing swine flu symptoms have been cleared to return home today.
The girls from Yokohama Jogakuin Girls' School were due to have taken part in a series of cultural activities with Christchurch's Avonside Girls' High School and Rangi Ruru Girls' School last week.
They showed no flu signs when they left Japan but some became unwell on the flight over and were isolated on their arrival.
