A young girl suffered head and neck injuries after falling out of a tree at a school north of Auckland.
The 10-year-old is believed to have been playing in the tree at Wellsford School during or after lunchtime when she fell about 3m yesterday.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to the scene shortly before 1.50pm and found the girl lying under the tree being treated by a doctor and a nurse, a spokeswoman said.
"She must have been playing in the tree and fell," she said, adding: "She landed on her head and neck area." She was not knocked unconscious.
The girl was flown, accompanied by a teacher, to Starship children's hospital in a moderate condition.
