A student from Westlake Girls' High School on Auckland's North Shore has been struck by a telecommunications cable.
Earlier reports that she had received an electric shock from a power cable were incorrect, lines company Vector said.
The company said it believed the girl has now been released from hospital.
The cable was thought to have come down as the student was jogging with a group of girls in training for summer sport, and the girl was believed to have moderate injuries.
Principal Alison Gernhoefer had earlier said she was not sure what caused the line to come down and would be demanding answers from Vector.
